The 2018 ECNL College Impact – Big East Conference
RICHMOND, VA (November 7, 2018) – For the fourth consecutive year, ECNL Alums constitute the majority of women’s collegiate soccer players in the Big East. In 2018, ECNL Alums make up 60% of the entire Big East in 2018, and almost 70% of the conference’s individual honorees. The ECNL College Impact on the Big East, one of the top soccer conferences in the country, is overwhelming and continues to increase every year.
Ten years ago, the Girls ECNL transformed the landscape for girls’ soccer and began a movement that would impact all levels of women’s soccer. The ECNL College Impact catalogs the incredible impact ECNL Alums have on collegiate women’s soccer conferences across the country every year.
The ECNL College Impact for the Big East includes all players currently active on Big East rosters:
- 171 ECNL Alums are currently playing in the Big East Conference – over 60% of the total players in the Conference.
- Big East Offensive Player of the Year (Caitlin Farrell), Big East Midfielder of the Year (Samantha Dewey), Goalkeeper of the Year (Arielle Schechtman, 2nd consecutive year) and Big East Defensive Player of the Year (Meaghan Nally) are an ECNL Alums.
- 15 of the 22 players on both of the 2018 Big East First Team and Big East All-Freshman Teams are ECNL Alums – over 68% of the SEC Conference honorees are ECNL Alum.
The Big East Conference includes Butler University, Creighton University, DePaul University, Georgetown University, Marquette University, Providence College, Seton Hall University, St. John’s College, Villanova University and Xavier University.
