2018 Girls ECNL Final Four To Be Held in Richmond, Virginia
RICHMOND, VA (March 15, 2018) – The Girls Elite Clubs National League (Girls ECNL) is excited to announce that the 2018 Girls ECNL National Final Four will take place July 6-7, 2018 in Richmond, Virginia at the West Creek Soccer Complex. For the first time ever, the U14 age group will be a part of the event, joining the U15, U16 and U17 age groups. All teams will play semi-final matches and then either the national championship or the 3rd place match.
Teams qualifying for the Girls ECNL Final Four will receive a block of complimentary hotel rooms and an additional travel subsidy from the Girls ECNL to attend the event, as the league continues its efforts to reduce costs of elite competition. All teams will arrive on July 5th, with an Opening Ceremony and Live Draw held that evening to determine the matchups in the semi-finals the next day. The Girls ECNL National Champions will be crowned on July 7th. All games at the 2018 Girls ECNL National Finals will be streamed live by StreamSports.
“The Girls ECNL Final Four will showcase the highest level of girls’ soccer in the U.S. We are thrilled to welcome these elite athletes, their families, and coaches to the Richmond Region this summer,” said Richmond Region Tourism Senior Sports Development Manager Danielle Vincenti. “Showcasing our destination to elite athletes at a national-championship level has a tremendous positive impact on the community.”
The Girls ECNL Final Four is the culminating event of the Girls ECNL season, and reaching the Final Four is one of the most difficult accomplishments in female youth club soccer in the world.
“The Girls ECNL is excited to bring the Final Four back to Richmond, Virginia,” said ECNL Commissioner Jen Winnagle. “Each season the battle to be crowned Girls ECNL National Champion grows more intense, and the level of play gets better. With the best four teams in four age groups, the excitement in the Final Four this year will be unmatched.”
The path to the Girls ECNL Final Four begins with the Girls ECNL National Playoffs from June 21-26 in Redmond, Washington, in three competition divisions. In the top bracket of competition from U14 – U17, the Girls ECNL Champions League qualifiers will be fighting for Final Four berths. The Girls ECNL U18/U19 National Champions will be crowned in Redmond in June, allowing players to complete their final year of club soccer well before the collegiate soccer season begins in August. At U15, U16, and U17, qualifying teams will also be competing for championships in the North American Cup and Showcase Cup.
