The 2017 ECNL College Impact – Big Ten Conference

RICHMOND, VA (November 1, 2017) – With ECNL Alums making up nearly 60% of the entire Big Ten Conference in 2017, and more than 70% of the conference’s individual honorees, the ECNL College Impact on the Big Ten is overwhelming. The ECNL College Impact series catalogs the incredible impact of ECNL Alums on collegiate women’s soccer every year. In 2017, once again, ECNL Alums are dominating the landscape in conferences all over the country.

The ECNL College Impact for The Big Ten Conference includes all players currently active on Big Ten rosters:

  • 239 ECNL Alums are currently playing in the Big Ten Conference – 59% of the players in the Big Ten Conference are ECNL alums.
  • 24 players from the Big Ten First Team, Second Team, and All-Freshman Team are ECNL Alums, over 70% of the Big Ten Conference honorees.
  • The Big Ten Midfielder of the Year (Nikki Walts), Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year (Casey Murphy) and Big Ten Freshman of the Year (Amirah Ali) are ECNL Alums.
  • 8 out of the 11 players on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team are ECNL Alums.

The Big Ten includes the University of Illinois, University of Indiana, University of Iowa, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, the University of Minnesota, the University of Nebraska, Northwestern University, Ohio State University, Penn State University, Purdue University, Rutgers University and University of Wisconsin.

With ECNL Alums constituting the majority of the conference and the overwhelming majority of conference honorees, it is clear where the future Big Ten stars are playing youth soccer.
