ECNL College Impact | The Big 12 Conference

big12_conference_logoRICHMOND, VA (November 10, 2015) – The Elite Clubs National League was created in 2009 with the mission to “Elevate the Game” – to improve the daily training and competition environment of the best youth female players in the United States, and by doing so improve and raise the level of female soccer at all levels.  In six seasons, the ECNL has quickly grown to become the top youth female club league in the world.

While the impact of the ECNL is primarily felt at the youth level, the ECNL has had a significant and growing impact on every level of the sport.  ECNL players cover US Soccer youth national team rosters, and even more ECNL alums are now dominating the Division I college soccer landscape.

The ECNL College Impact can be measured by the number of ECNL alums that have moved on to collegiate soccer, and the increase in this number every year since the league’s inception.  The ECNL College Impacthighlights the ECNL’s effect on collegiate athletic conferences all over the United States, and begins with the Big 12 Conference.

The Big 12 Conference stretches from Texas to Iowa, and all the way east to West Virginia.  The Big 12 includes Baylor University, Iowa State, Kansas University, Kansas State University, Oklahoma University, Oklahoma State University, Texas Christian University, the University of Texas, Texas Tech University, and West Virginia University. The ECNL College Impact for the Big 12 includes all players active on Big 12 rosters:

  • 157 ECNL alumni are currently playing in the Big 12 Conference.
  • Nearly 65% of the players in the Big 12 Conference are ECNL alums.
  • The Offensive Player of the Year, Janine Beckie, is an ECNL alumni.
  • The Freshman of the Year, Lauren Piercey is an ECNL alumni.
  • 73% of the 2015 Big 12 All-Freshman Team are ECNL alumni and 10 Players on the 2015 Big 12 First Team and Second Team are ECNL alumni.
