RICHMOND, Va. (May 12, 2015) – The 2014-15 ECNL season is dedicated to celebrating the Amazing Young Women that have helped mold this league into the top female youth soccer platform in the world. As part of the campaign, the ECNL is encouraging amazing young women to share their stories.  Danielle “Danny” Colaprico is a current professional player for the Chicago Red Stars, University of Virginia Alum, PDA alum, and member of the U23 U.S. Women’s National Team Pool.  The ECNL caught up with Danny to learn more about her both on and off the field.

Q: What is your favorite emoji and why?
A: My favorite emoji is the Sun that is smiling because that usually means it’s sunny and that makes me DColaprico-Headshothappy!

Q: What do you miss most about college soccer?
A: The thing I miss most about college soccer at UVA is how close everyone was and celebrating after every goal we scored with my teammates.

Q: Who is your soccer idol?
A: Lionel Messi

Q: Do you have any siblings?
A: I have one older brother named Justin.

Q: If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?
A: I would be a dolphin because they are my favorite animals. I also love the ocean so that might be part of it.

Q: Coffee or tea?
A: Definitely coffee

Q: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
A: Mint Chocolate Chip (the green kind)

Q: When did you start playing soccer?
A: I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old.

Q: Did you play any other sports growing up?
A: When I was growing up, I use to play basketball, as well.

Q: Who is your favorite actor/actress?
A: Mark Wahlberg

Q: What is your biggest fear?
A: My biggest fear would be a tie between drowning and spiders/snakes.

Q: Define “team” in your own words.
A: A team is a group of players who work together for a common goal. They stick together through thick and thin and are always there for one another. They are determined to develop/improve everyday.

Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Hunger Games series

Q: What is in your purse/backpack at this moment?
A: Wallet, keys, gum, lip balm, and a Blow Pop.

Q: One thing you wished you knew at age 12.
A: That it is okay to be different and you don’t always have to follow the crowd.

Q: Champions League or English Premier League?
A: Champions League

Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: “If you can dream it, you can do it” – Walt Disney

Q: What is your favorite US Youth National Team memory so far?
A: Winning the Six Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain two years in a row.

Q: What is your dream job?
A: Play for the USA Women’s National Team.

Q: If you had to sing karaoke, what song would you sing?
A: A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton

Q: Do you have any pregame superstitions?
A: Listening to music

Q: What is something most people do not know about you?
A: As much as I love spending time with my friends, I love my alone time as well. Which is usually spent napping.

Q: ECNL prepared me for _______.
A: PDA, an ECNL Member Club and two-time ECNL Overall Club Champion, prepared me for the competition that I faced while being apart of the University of Virginia’s soccer program.
