RICHMOND, Va. (November 25, 2014) – The 2014-15 ECNL season is dedicated to celebrating the Amazing Young Women that have helped mold this league into the top female youth soccer platform in the world. As part of the campaign, ECNL is encouraging amazing young women to share their stories. Katelyn Penner is a member of the Crossfire United ECNL U14 team, a new ECNL Member Club this year. The ECNL caught up with Katelyn to learn more about her ECNL experience thus far, and more!
Q: Champions League or English Premier League?
A: Champions League because I love Barcelona.
Q: What is your favorite hometown restaurant?
A: La Provence because of their delicious French pastries, especially their blueberry cheese brioche! Amazing!
Q: What is something that most people do not know about you?
A: I’m not a fan of cheese.
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: Yes, a tabby cat named Pepper.
Q: Who is your biggest soccer inspiration?
A: Tobin Heath because of her fantastic footwork, juggling and faith.
Q: What is your favorite season? (Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter)
A: Fall. I love the colorful leaves.
Q: What is your most memorable soccer moment thus far?
A: Meeting Tobin Heath this past summer and getting to juggle for her.
Q: Paper or Plastic?
A: Paper
Q: In three words or less, describe your club team?
A: Hard-working
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Despicable Me
Q: How long have you been playing soccer?
A: Since I was six.
Q: Have you ever traveled out of the country? if so, where?
A: No, although I would like to travel to Europe.
Q: What is one word teammates would use to describe you?
A: Small
Q: Who is your favorite international soccer player?
A: Lionel Messi because of his incredible foot skills.
Q: What is your biggest fear?
A: Spiders! Seriously creepy and disgusting!
Q: If you could be anyone in the world, who would you be and why?
A: I would be someone on the USWNT to experience what its like to play professionally and to represent your country.
Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?
A: Hopefully playing soccer in college.
Q: What is in your pockets at this very moment?
A: Nothing. I don’t ever put anything in my pockets.

Q: Where is your favorite vacation destination?
A: Sunriver Resort in Central Oregon.
Q: If you could coach your ECNL team for one session, what would it entail?
A: Mini scrimmages (4v4) and flying changes.
Q: What does the ECNL mean to you?
A: It provides me with an opportunity to play with and compete against other players who love the game as much as I do.
