2010 ECNL National Championship Preview: July 17 key games

SEATTLE (July 16, 2010) – The matchups are set for the final day of play at the 2010 ECNL National Championship as teams compete for national championships, promotion and relegation, team placement and overall club championships.

The ECNL National Championship kicked off Thurs., July 15 at 60 Acres Soccer Complex in suburban Seattle.

See below for a preview of key promotion and relegation games as well as national championship contests on July 17, the final day of competition for the inaugural 2010-11 season.

U-17 ECNL National Championship | 6 p.m. | 60 Acres – North Field 15
#1 PDA Tsunami vs. #2 FC Stars of Mass

Neither of Friday’s semifinal games were able to be decided in regulation. PDA Tsunami needed overtime to defeat Ohio Elite, 3-2, while FC Stars of Mass advanced to the national championship game on penalty kicks, 3-2, after its 1-1 deadlock with Lonestar SC.

U-17 Promotion Playoffs | 6 p.m. | 60 Acres – North Field 11
#2 San Juan SC vs. #4 FC Virginia

The winner of this game becomes the third and final team to advance to the Challenge A division. Albertson Fury and SC Del Sol secured advancement into the Challenge A division by virtue of their wins on Friday.

In Friday’s games, Albertson Fury defeated FC Virginia, 3-2, while SC Del Sol notched a 2-0 shutout of San Juan SC.

U-17 Relegation Playoffs | 6 p.m. | 60 Acres – North Field 16
#17 Charlotte SA vs. #18 Colorado Rush

The winner of this game maintains its place in the Challenge A division. Charlotte SA recorded a 1-0 win over West Coast FC and Colorado Rush defeated Irvine Strikers, 3-0, on Friday.

U-16 ECNL National Championship | 4 p.m. | 60 Acres – North Field 15
#1 Mustang Rampage vs. #3 PDA Charge

In Friday’s semifinals, Mustang scored once in each half to advance past Crossfire Premier, 2-0, while PDA Charge mounted a comeback over East Coast rival FC Stars of Mass, 2-1.

U-16 Promotion Playoffs | 4 p.m. | 60 Acres – North Field 11
#2 Challenge SC vs. #4 Connecticut FC

The winner of this game becomes the third and final team to advance to the Challenge A division. Arsenal FC and SC Del Sol secured advancement into the Challenge A division by virtue of their wins on Friday.

U-16 Relegation Playoffs | 4 p.m. | 60 Acres – North Field 16
#17 Sereno SC vs. #18 Birmingham United

The winner of this game maintains its place in the Challenge A division. On Friday, Sereno recorded a 1-0 triumph over CESA Premier, while Birmingham United topped Pleasanton Rage, 2-0.

U-15 ECNL National Championship | 2 p.m. | 60 Acres – North Field 15
#1 Dallas Sting vs. #3 Arsenal FC

In Friday’s semifinals, Dallas Sting edged Eclipse Select, 2-1, while third-seeded Arsenal FC overcame second-seeded CASL Spartan Elite, 3-0.

U-15 Promotion Playoffs | 2 p.m. | 60 Acres – North Field 11
#2 Solar vs. #4 SoccerPlus Connecticut

The winner of this game becomes the third and final team to advance to the Challenge A division. Lonestar SC and San Juan SC secured advancement into the Challenge A division by virtue of their wins on Friday.

U-15 Relegation Playoffs | 2 p.m. | 60 Acres – North Field 16
#17 FC Stars of Mass vs. #19 D’Feeters

The winner of this game maintains its place in the Challenge A division. On Friday, FC Stars of Mass beat St. Louis Scott Gallagher, 3-1, while D’Feeters slipped by Irvine Strikers, 1-0.

The ECNL is a non-profit national youth soccer league founded in 2009 to provide the best possible developmental environment for American female youth soccer players through the creation of the highest level of national competition and an identification and development program to provide an avenue for players to participate in U.S. Soccer’s National Teams.
